While this is the last week before the holiday break, there are still many points on the line. Keep working hard until Friday! In honor of of the holiday spirit, if you come and secretly (no one else can know otherwise you will all lose the extra credit) challenge me to a game of rock-paper-scissors by TUESDAY during BREAK or LUNCH, you will receive extra credit. This is motivation to actually use this website as a resource to be prepared for class. Some dates to note:

• Monday your short story rough draft is due
• Wednesday your vocabulary packet is due
• Thursday the final draft of your short story is due WITH brainstorm sheet and rough draft
• By the end of class Thursday, your Antigone groups must be finalized (we will discuss Wednesday)
• Friday is your vocabulary test

Here is a bonus, if you come to class Monday and tell me "bow ties are cool", I will give you extra credit for actually reading this blog. But if I hear you telling anyone else to say that phrase to me, neither of you will receive the extra credit.

This week closes up the first quarter of the school year. There are still points on the line to improve your grade before I submit scores but now is the time to step it up if you have developed some bad habits. Remember, this Thursday is your huge vocabulary final. We are going to spent significant time this week practicing prefixes, suffixes and roots. The point of it is to help you!  Some things to note as we finish up Part 2 of Fahrenheit 451:

October 31-November 4

Good job on the first part of Fahrenheit 451. The part one scores were high and through our discussions, it seems as though most of the class completed the required reading. The pace at which we will be reading the text is going to become faster, so make sure you are keeping up! Things to note this week:

• There is going to be a study guide given out on Monday. As you do the nightly reading, you will be responsible for completing corresponding section of the study guide. I will check it during SSR everyday. If it is not completed, you will lose significant points. 
• There will be a vocabulary test (as always) this Friday.

As a result of the selfish actions of a member of your class, the tone of this class is going to change until the money is recouped. I will not tolerate the actions shown and you only have your classmate to blame. If anyone has any information on who took the money, please do the right thing and either tell me or pressure the person to return the money so it can be given to children in need.

Good job last week. This is the last week of our short story unit and then we move on to Fahrenheit 451. Remember, we are shifting to reading more at home. Some of the "There Will Come Soft Rain" scores reflect that you need to be a little more disciplined to get your work done at home. On that note, progress reports will be sent out Tuesday. If you like what you see, keep it up. If you want to make an improvement, come talk to me. It is still  earlier enough in the semester for you to get the grade you want. Some important things to note:
